Disclaimer

Even though many customers report an immediate freedom from pain, it may take a while ridding your tennis elbow / golfer’s elbow completely and of course it is also possible that the Masalo Cuff may not have the desired effect in your personal case. An epicondylitis is a serious medical issue and medical matters are always individual. The healing progress is dependant on many factors and differs for each patient. Therefore and for legal reasons we cannot and will not provide a healing guaranty. Some reviews have been translated from German.

Masalo Cuff

5. July 2021

I’ve been wearing the cuff day and night for 3 weeks now and I can feel an improvement but I’m not really pain-free yet!!!! I work as a plasterer and it doesn’t bother me at all when I wear it. Top cuff !!!! We’ll see when I’m completely pain-free again!

Response from Masalo.co.uk

Hello Mr. Seidl, thank you very much for your evaluation. This is a very good first step and we were able to optimise the application a little more together by email, so I am confident that the cuff will be even more effective for you in the future and that you will be able to get rid of your injury quickly. Continue to recover well!

And it does work 🙂

Initially, I had given a 4-star rating in May:

“Last year I contracted tennis elbow while working out. After 9 months I discovered the Masalo Bandage. I wore it day and night for 2 months and the pain was gone. I was thrilled!

Now I have a golfer’s elbow. I have been wearing the brace for a week now. While I experienced immediate relief from tennis elbow with the brace, I haven’t noticed any relief from golfer’s elbow yet. Can I still hope?”

But now a few weeks have passed and Mr Siebert from the Masalo team had given me some valuable tips the very next day after my feedback, which I implemented immediately.

The most important one was that I tightened the upper arm strap. I immediately felt relief. In the meantime, the pain is still not completely gone, but much better, so that I can play tennis and do fitness without pain.

I am happy. Now there are full 5 stars 🙂

Many thanks to the Masalo Team!

Regards

Relief within 2 weeks

19. May 2021

I have been doing heavy weight training (powerlifting) for 21 years now (I am 41 years old). I also do a lot of gardening and work at my desk.

About 4 months ago, while working in the garden (I had to remove part of the lawn), my elbow and lower arm muscles (right arm) became noticeable. The grip strength during training also decreased and some movements (especially where grip strength and forearm muscles have to work together… e.g. side lifts) were no longer possible or only possible to a limited extent.

First I treated the pain with ointments. Then I got myself an elbow brace. However, these things did not bring the desired success, on the contrary, it got worse over time. I have to say that I did NOT stop exercising at any time (I have to explain that I have a small home gym and can continue to exercise during the lockdown).

After Easter, however, the situation worsened so much that I could hardly take a water bottle from the cupboard or go about my work on the PC for 5 minutes at a time. Anything that irritated the forearm muscles (and the associated tendons) caused pain.

As I was still hoping to get by without a doctor, I did some more research and discovered the reports on the Masalo cuff. I was very sceptical, if only because my elbow brace had not helped at all.

The statements in the reports, such as “noticeable improvement within a very short time” or “I went home and built a prototype in 3 months, for which I was praised by my surgeons” made me think more than they convinced me.

Nevertheless, I decided to order a cuff on 19.04.2021 (the shock wave therapy at the doctor’s with 5 sessions would have cost me 150€… so I gave the cuff priority).

Within 36 hours of ordering, the cuff was already there. In the enclosed booklet, everything from putting the cuff on to cleaning it is described in first-class detail. If the descriptions are not enough, you can always refer to the videos in the public media.

Let’s move on to putting on the cuff: As I said at the beginning, I have been doing heavy training for over 21 years. With a forearm circumference of 37 cm and an upper arm circumference of 56 cm, it was not easy to find the right position at the beginning. However, with a little practice comes routine. After a week, this was no longer a problem.

However, since the cuff is also advertised especially for strength athletes, the straps (in “size 2”) should be extended by 3 – 5 cm for tightening. This would make positioning more comfortable for people with larger arm circumferences. However, this is the only point that I would consider critical. Otherwise, the workmanship is top-notch, and once you have found the right position, the cuff is very comfortable to wear.

Even when training, in the garden or at work, the cuff is no longer noticeable after a while. And if the cuff slips a little due to a lot of movement, it is very easy to adjust it again.

After wearing the cuff for 2 weeks without interruption, I quickly noticed that I could perform certain movements and activities almost painlessly again (probably with the support of the cuff). After that, I became more courageous and took the cuff off at times.

After 4 weeks, I am almost pain-free. Loads with an outstretched arm with grip strength are possible again without any problems. Even working on the PC is no longer a problem. Depending on the degree of strain, there is still a slight pulling sensation, but this is no longer comparable to the symptoms I had more than 4 weeks ago.

In addition, the cuff is then put back on. I am 100% convinced of this product. You shouldn’t expect direct miracles, depending on the severity of the injury, consistent wearing is necessary (in my case it went quite quickly with about 4 weeks). But the result is first class!

Response from Masalo.co.uk

Hello Mr Heisters, thank you for the really great report and also your suggestions. We are indeed in the process of developing another size, as we have quite a few strength athletes with quite powerful arms among our customers. But that will also take time. In medicine, such optimisations are not quickly implemented. It is precisely through customer feedback like your report that we can constantly improve ourselves and our product, which is not the only reason why we attach great importance to contact with users. Like almost all athletes, you have done everything exactly right!

However, I recommend that you use the cuff as a prophylactic measure when things get really tough during sports or in the garden. Once you’ve had epicondylitis, you just tend to get it again and you really don’t need to go through that pain again. In any case, I wish you all the best, maximum sporting success and lots of fun in the garden. If anything should happen, we are always happy to be there for you! Best regards Harry Röder

Light at the end of the tunnel

17. May 2021

Hello, since November 2020 my tennis elbow, which had been peaceful for years, has returned. Since February, it has been extremely painful again, even with small everyday movements.

Since then, I can’t even think about my fitness training.

Physiotherapy, full-arm orthosis, various epicondylitis bandages and braces and cortisone infiltrations brought no improvement either, nor did stretching exercises and hanging from poles several times a day.

Now a last try with your cuff before I insist on an operation. First impression is very positive, the extreme pain in the joint is relieved immediately. I’m waiting with bated breath to see what the next few weeks bring.

Response from Masalo.co.uk

Dear Jennifer, thank you very much for the feedback. What you write reads very well and the cuff seems to work as it should. Nevertheless, I recommend that you send us 2 photos of your arm with the cuff on. We can almost always optimise the fit a little more and give helpful tips. In any case, you should be able to do sports and work without pain within a few days of putting the cuff on. If you are under a lot of strain, you should wear the cuff a little tighter and work with less load and more repetitions (perform them cleanly) when doing sports. I also recommend that you do not do the stretching exercises, bar hangings etc.. This is rather counterproductive to our principle of action, you create an opposing tensile force with maximum load on the tendon insertions. This can repeatedly rupture the micro-tears and thus significantly disrupt the healing process or even aggravate the injury. However, if you absolutely want to stretch, please do so moderately and stop the exercises immediately as soon as the slightest pain occurs. Your injury should now get steadily better with the help of the Masalo Cuff, although you may need patience until it is completely healed. But you should soon be able to do everything normally again – with the bandage on. Wear it as consistently as possible. As I said, tighten it a little when you are expecting heavy exertion, and loosen it a little at night and when you are resting. I wish you a good recovery and look forward to your reply. Kind regards Harry Röder

It's worth it!

12. May 2021

Hello, I have been wearing the cuff for about half a year now and can work with it absolutely pain-free.

Unfortunately, my family doctor and my orthopaedist doubted the effect of the cuff on a golfer’s arm, so I bought it privately and it was really worth it!

I do have one suggestion for improvement though, it would be nice if there was also a black version, the white one is unfortunately very sensitive to dirt and in summer you don’t always wear long sleeves.

Response from Masalo.co.uk

Hello Michael, thank you for your report and the suggestion for improvement. First of all, the black version is already fully developed, we are currently waiting for production samples so that we can then release production for it. Unfortunately, this kind of thing takes a long time in the medical field, and we have been working on it for almost 2 years. What you experienced with your family doctor and orthopaedic surgeon leads to the conclusion that neither of them really dealt with the active principle. If we pull the entire tissue of the forearm (the forearm cuff encloses the entire forearm) towards the elbow, then logically both tendon insertions at the elbow must be relieved. You are welcome to contact us about such things, actually we can always help 🙂 Unfortunately, it is not easy to break down the thought patterns that have become entrenched due to decades of the only available compression effect of other Epi products and to achieve a change in thinking. Unfortunately, this often only happens when several patients show up at the doctors afterwards and can move again. After that, however, it works really well because doctors are also basically always interested in the patients getting better. It’s great that you were patient, because golfer’s elbow is very stubborn and long-lasting 🙂 Don’t put the cuff out of reach and either wear it prophylactically when heavy strains are expected or put the bandage on right away when you notice it might start again. I wish you all the best and stay healthy. Best regards Harry Röder
